Parliamentary Speeches

It's my job to represent the people of my electorate and that means being the voice of my constituents in State Parliament.

I like to use my time in Parliament to highlight the great work being done in our community by schools, organisations and individuals who genuinely try to make a positive difference to many people's lives.

I also share my thoughts on various pieces of legislation - always with these burning questions in mind: "How will this affect my constituents?" "Does this legislation make life better for people in my electorate?" and "Is this good policy that doesn't unfairly affect local residents?"

Below you can read through my Parliamentary speeches. If you have any suggestions on groups, organisations or people who deserve a mention in State Parliament, please don't hesitate to get in touch with my office on 02 9618 2077 or email [email protected]

Campbelltown and Region Filipino Community Council

June 19, 2019

Community Recognition Statement

Mr ANOULACK CHANTHIVONG (Macquarie Fields) (13:44):  I was delighted to join the Federal member for Macarthur, Dr Michael Freelander, and councillors Rey Manoto and Masood Chowdhury at the Campbelltown and Region Filipino Community Council [CRFCC] cultural event to celebrate 121 years of Filipino independence.

Our two nations share the values of freedom and democracy. The CRFCC's annual event is an important reminder and celebration of the valued friendship that exists between our two peoples.

The event dates back to 2005 when then Philippine Consul General Maria Theresa Lazaro and my very dear friend the late Mayor of Campbelltown Brenton Banfield began a partnership to foster greater understanding, inclusivity and celebration of our community's diversity. As they say, the rest is history.

No Filipino event would be complete without wonderful cultural dances, singing and performances. It was most enjoyable.

I take this opportunity to recognise the ongoing efforts of Lourdes Kaiser, Rey Manoto and the CRFCC's executive for their commitment to our community in organising the annual event. To them I say well done and mabuhay!
